We are thrilled to present ATM STORYTELLERS, a new storytelling adventure brought to you from Across The Margin and ATM Media. In this podcast series listeners will hear stories that were — or will be — published at Across The Margin…read by the authors themselves. This podcast belongs to the writers and authors — and down the road, the poets — who bless our pages with their cunning wordplay and meticulously crafted stories.
While you can take in these stories at the webzine, ATM STORYTELLERS offers an opportunity for the listener to sit back and let the stories wash over them in the tone and fashion that the author intended. Here, stories come to life in a way that could never happen on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Here, these stories truly “cross the Margin” and take flight.
Season 1, Episode 1 features two deeply affecting stories. First up is a profoundly moving work, inspired by a twenty-five-year marriage to an older man, that celebrates the joys inherent when one leaps at the opportunity for love in exchange for a later life alone: “Before Lunch” by Dianne Blomberg. Following that is a story about a desperate response to the devastating loss of a child, where a masterfully designed imitation has been crafted to fill the void of absence” “Daniel” by Jay Jones.
Dianne Blomberg is the author of academic pieces in human communication, two children’s picture books, and a personal essay in the Feminine Collective. Her research has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Newsday (New York), The Boston Globe, First for Women, The Denver Post, Family Life, Good Housekeeping, and more. Dianne is an educator, writer, and speaker living in Colorado. Read more from Diane at her website.
