Good Morning, Dust Bunny

by: Heather Fawn

A morning spent in thought, with something reliable…..

Good morning, dust bunny ((The art displayed in this piece is the work of a visual artist from Los Angeles named noa p kaplan, the work is entitled ‘Dust Bunny’))

I’m happy we can share this moment

All the ambition in the world

And I just lie here

Face smashed into the bed

We’ve done well for ourselves, dust bunny

You survived

The months I thought about tearing everything down

You survived

I don’t care anymore

I’ve built bridges to nowhere

But every bridge goes somewhere

And if it doesn’t— well, it’s got a nice view

Water below me

Sky above

Some things we can still count on

I met someone

Then reacquainted myself

Black and blue,

The sun comes up too fast,

I can’t catch my breath—

That kind of someone

But he is still on the other side

Was it just a moment?

I can’t tell

I’ll watch for a sign

Got a little piece of him right here

In my ear

I’ll watch for a sign

This is new, dust bunny

I woke up to you

And a blue sky

That I can stand the sight of

I’ve got nothing

Nothing at all

But it doesn’t hurt me like it used to

Because I don’t care anymore

I’ve worked so hard

To build bridges to nowhere

Yeah— every bridge goes somewhere

And if it doesn’t— well, it’s got a nice view

Water below me

Sky above

Some things we can still count on
